Measuring Up!
Kindergarten has completed the Fall window of the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing! We all did great, but of course, have some room to improve throughout the year. This is a great indicator to help us work with our students in the areas needed. We will test again in the Winter and then the Spring. I can't wait to see the improvement!!!!

Reading Rockstars in Kindergarten!
We have had some great sharing during these first few weeks of Kindergarten. Two friends brought in their favorite books to read to the class, and did such a great job! We were introduced to If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and Don't Push the Button. Both of these books sure had us laughing, a lot!

Cooperative Learning in Kindergarten
This week, we practiced some of the ideas that our Bethlehem teachers learned during our training sessions this summer. One of these ideas is a strategy for cooperative learning called Rally Coach. Our Kinder Friends paired up to solve some math problems, with one student acting first as the "player" and the second student as the "coach." With only hints, tips, and encouragement, the coach worked to help the player through the problems, and then the pair switched roles. What a great way to have everyone in the room engaged in learning at one time!!!

Miss Smith is Moving On Up!
Today was the start of Miss Smith's teaching time in our Kindergarten class! We are so excited to have her here, and she did an awesome job teaching our Kinder Friends about God's Creation. Our class is so blessed to have such a fun and talented Student Teacher this school year!

We had a great first day of Kindergarten at Bethlehem Lutheran! Check it out. Are they the cutest kids (plus older kid, Miss Smith) EVER, or what??? Love, Love, Love!! It's going to be a great year!
Miss Smith is such a welcome addition to our classroom! We are blessed to have her as our student teacher this year, AND she is the "artist in residence" of this cute sign, too!!

The Night Before Kindergarten
Twas the night before Kindergarten,
and inside her house,
the teacher was working as quiet as a mouse.
The plan books were laid,
all neat and written out,
inside of her book bag,
with purple pens, no doubt.
Her family was nestled,
all snug in their beds,
while visions of 5-year-olds danced in her head....
Ok, I think I am ready, but there is never any sleep on the night before the First Day of School! Praying for a peaceful first day, full of love and laughter with my Kinder Friends and their families.
Please check out our blog throughout the year, we have many exciting things planned for the 2016-2017 Kindergarten year!
God's Blessings,
Mrs. Wilson
...And I heard her exclaim as she turned off the light,
"May our school days be productive,
and our futures be bright!"

A Blessed Day!
Today we had a very special day in Kindergarten. We were able to witness the baptism of one of our Kinder Friends during our Wednesday chapel service! It was a beautiful service, full of messages of "keeping the faith" and "the power of God is great!" We watched in awe as Pastor Korte used water and God's Word to bring another child into God's Holy Family. What a great memory, for our newly baptized friend and his family and sponsors, AND for the Bethlehem Kindergarten class of 2016!
