Fun at the Farm!

LeCronier's Baby Acres Farm in Freeland is always a special field trip for Bethlehem Kindergarten.

They have SO many awesome animals, and a springtime visit means that there are many brand new babies for us to meet!  This year was no exception.  The sheep had triplets only three weeks ago!  The nanny goat had twins only two weeks ago, and the baby calf was only a week old!  We also saw, and held, brand new chicks, bunnies, and kittens.

Alijah was picked to give the baby calf his breakfast!

These kittens are SO soft!!

And the bunnies kind of tickle!!

Connor needs one at home, don't you think!?!  LOL

Check our the baby goat!  Did you know they're called "kids", just like us!?!

We were all given cups of food for the animals, and then they let the gates open!!!

HERE THEY COME!!!!

Don't they every feed these things?!?!?

The hayride was a blast!  Along the way, we saw pigs that weighed 600 pounds, and a mama duck with 18 ducklings!!!  WOW!!!

Another successful trip to the farm!   As a dear friend of mine has been known to say, "Everyone should spend SOME time on a farm!  What a learning experience!"

Afternoon Fun!

Mrs. Gallegos does so many fun and educational activities in the afternoon, she needs her own blog!  Here are a few pictures from her latest sight word game.  Everyone loved reading their football sight words and putting them onto the quarterback!

 Silly friends!

Mystery Readers!

It's a Mystery!!

We have been having such a rewarding time with our Mystery Reader series!  We have read some great books, and experienced some really unique things!  Here is a walk down our Mystery Reader "Memory Lane" for the month of April.

Our first Mystery Reader was Mrs. Mulder.  She brought us her favorite books, "Bear's Loose Tooth," and "I Can Do It Myself!"  It was kind of funny, because that night Caleb lost his first tooth!!!

I think Caleb is playing with his loose tooth right now!?!

Our next Mystery Reader was our favorite Kitchen Queen, Mrs. Brandimore, head of our school's Nutrition Services!  Mrs. Brandimore had some "well-loved" books that she used to read to her very own kids, "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," and "Grover's Book of Little Baby Animals."

Everyone loved the pictures in the Grover book, and our visit from Mrs. Brandimore.  It was fun to see her in the classroom, instead of the kitchen!

A great surprise Mystery Reader duo was Aiden's grandma and grandpa, Mr. and Mrs. Herzberger.  Mrs. Herzberger read us a funny story called, "Interrupting Chicken!", and then guess what???  Mr. Herzberger brought in a fancy box filled with 18 baby chicks!  We were SO excited!!!!

I must go and buy this book!  So, so funny!!!

We each got a chance to hold the babies, and then we let them wander on the quilt.

We were equally horrified and delighted when they pooped everywhere on the blanket!!  LOL

What a great Kindergarten memory for us all!!

Next up, Mrs. Dzuba came in with her book, "Skippyjon Jones in the Dog House."  What a great book, and a great way to learn some new Spanish words!

We love Skippyjon Jones, and this was one we hadn't read yet!!

Mrs. Duclos surprised us as a Mystery Reader when she showed up with "Jimmy Zangwow's Out-of-This-World Moon Pie Adventure!"
We listened carefully as Jimmy went to the ends of the universe to get his hands on his favorite snack, Moon Pies and milk.

And, then GUESS WHAT?  Mrs. Duclos brought us our very own MOON PIES for snack!!  What an awesome surprise!!  It was OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD!!!!

Our last Mystery Reader was Mr. Sharman!  He read the Dr. Seuss favorite, "The Lorax."
We learned a lot about appreciating the natural wonders that God has created for us to take care of.

He also read us a funny book, "My Rotten Red Headed Older Brother!"  We all got a good laugh out of that irony, as Mr. "Red Headed" Sharman shared the story!

What a great Mystery Reader month in Kindergarten!  Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!  I can't wait until next year when we get to do it all over again!!!

Wedding Day!

So, today was Wedding Day in Kindergarten...

We decided that since our letters Q and U are always together, they should get married and make it official.  Q is rarely seen without his helper U, so they are now officially MR. and MRS. QU!

Our wedding preparations included turning our classroom into a suitable aisle for the couple to walk down.  We made invitations and decorations.  The Wedding March was played and the girls walked in dressed as QUeens, while the boys joined us today dressed as QUarterbacks! What a sight we all were!

We even had a "shusher" who showed his QUiet sign to remind everyone that this was a solemn ceremony!

The time came for the wedding vows.  Q promised to love U through all QUarrels.  U pledged her loyalty to stick to Q through any QUandary.

When the ceremony was finally over, it was almost time to PARTY!
We first got together to blow some bubbles onto the cute couple...

Then, we posed for wedding party pictures!

Loving my Queens and Quarterbacks!

No wedding is complete without the Chicken Dance!  Sorry, there are no pictures because I was boogying on down with the wedding party!  Mrs. Duclos has taught them well, because they all knew the moves!!!!

And, finally...
CAKE!!!!
What a great day!!!!!  Congratulations, MR AND MRS QU!!!

The happy couple is now off on their honeymoon to QUEBEC!!!!!

Spring has Sprung!

It is FINALLY Springtime in Mid-Michigan (we're going to forget about yesterday's blizzard!), and it is time to share some Springtime fun we've been having in our Kindergarten class!!!

Darby O'Gill, our resident leprechaun, made several visits before we actually celebrated St. Patrick's Day.  What a fuss that little man caused, especially when he moved our desks around, or left us small treats!  Literally, we couldn't STOP talking about it for most of the day!  I love making these fun Kindergarten memories with our Kinder Friends! My own kids still remember their Darby Days from the lower grades here at Bethlehem.  :)

After Darby left, we really started working hard on our Lower Grades Operetta, Life of the Party!  We enjoyed being sheep and "gathering around" our Good Shepherd.  It is funny how a group of kids can be so loud in class, but when asked to "BAAA" as loudly as possible, can barely be heard!  We got better as time went on, thankfully!!

Cutest lambs on the block!!!

Catching Up!

Even with the occasional snow and cold days, we have been SO busy these past few weeks!  I am setting aside the next couple of installments to help "catch you up" on our latest happenings in Kindergarten.  I apologize for the delay, but once you hear about all of our parties, trips, and events...you'll understand!  :)

We celebrated Valentine's Day with our Kinder Friends by decorating cookies (and eating them, of course!), playing some fun games, and passing out our Valentine cards.  We couldn't do all of these great things without the help of our parents, so I want to thank them again for their time and efforts!

Aren't they just too sweet!?!

Along the way, we had a super fun snack that I need to share with you!  Hayden's mommy spent some extra time to make our snack, but I think she knew it was worth the time when she saw our faces and heard our giggles!  These apples were a blast, they tasted great, and they were a healthy option to counter some of our not-so-healthy favorites!!
 Sproiiiinnnggg!!
 What will it do???
  Cool!!!
Through the busiest times, we still find time to work with math centers weekly, and we ALWAYS ask for our teacher to take pictures, so here's one recent masterpiece made with our characteristic bears!
We sorted by color and size!!!  What smart friends!!

100 Days in Kindergarten!

One hundred days ago, we started our 2014-2015 school year in Kindergarten!  Several friends were nervous, many were excited, and everyone (including me) was curious about what our year would hold. Now, twenty-two school weeks later we are like a well-oiled machine.  Our goals have been set and are being met, we have made new friends, we know the "lay of the land" here at Bethlehem, and our faith has grown by leaps and bounds as we learn about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, each and every day!  Suffice it to say, it's been a great 100 days!!!

Mrs. Tucker wrote a 100 Day litany for our teacher devotions this morning, and I liked it so much that I decided to do the same in Kindergarten.  We each took turns telling what we wanted to thank God for, and it went like this:

100 days of snack
100 days of recess
100 days of playing
100 days of lunch
100 days of homework
100 days of sight words
100 days of color words
100 days of reading books
100 days of rest time
and
100 days of learning about God!

Thank you, God, for 100 days of laughter, learning, and fun in our awesome Kindergarten class!!!  I can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds for us!  :)

Lined up for our 100 step walk!  Where will 100 steps take us??

100 Day selfie!!  Don't you just love our 100 Day glasses!?!  LOL
